Westside Football Club

Westside Football Club was established in 1978 to develop a strong representation from Vancouver's west side in the Vancouver Metro Soccer league (VMSL).  By 1983, the club had risen into the mens premier division, become a provincially registered Non-Profit Society and grown to three mens and one womens teams.

Today, Westside Football Club is comprised of 18 recreational & competitive teams in the VMSL (mens) and MWSL (womens) open, U-21 and masters divisions. Our roster of 400 players is supported by an alumni of over 2,000. While our base and centre of gravity remains the Vancouver west side, our membership has spread out across the lower mainland.

Our mens team has been Canadian National Champions twice and Provincial Champions four times.  The club has won the U-21 A Cup, the Mens B Cup and the Womens B Cup Provincial Championships.

"Camaraderie, Community, Character"

While our fundamental goal is provide the opportunity for adults to enjoy the health and social benefits of soccer, Westside Football Club is proud to be contributing to the communities in which we live and play. Westside Football Club is committed to youth soccer development and to charitable giving to help troubled children, fund education and fight cancer.

Youth Soccer Development
Our members and alumni are coaching in youth soccer clubs around the lower mainland and particularly in Dunbar, Point Grey, Douglas Park and Kerrisdale where our alumni also often serve as technical directors.

Westside Football Club operates at arms length from the youth soccer clubs with which it is affiliated. Westside actively provides youth clubs and young players with opportunities and options as they progress from youth soccer. Westside has a longstanding affiliation with UBC mens soccer.

Annual Charity Youth Tournament (Jamboree)
Westside Football Club's flagship youth development event since 1995 is the Annual Westside Charity Youth Tournament. Every Thanksgiving, 400 boys and girls from age 8 to 10 participate in a fun day of soccer and skills clinics. The event is 100% volunteer operated and all proceeds are donated to charity with the lions share directed toward the Kids Help Phone.

Vancouver Food Bank
Westside Soccer has been supporting the Vancouver Food Bank since the late 1980s. A donation to the Food Bank is encouraged at all the main Westside functions and the club set a new one day collection record at the 2006 Westside Charity Youth Tournament.

Run For The Cure
Westside Football Club is proud to be a supporter of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. For the CIBC Run for the Cure in each of 2006, 2007 and 2008, the Westside Football Club team "Devils for Kelli" won the New Balance Team Challenge Award for most funds raised by a womens team at the Vancouver run site.

Westside Football Club Scholarship Trust
In 2006-2007, Westside Football Club raised the seed money to establish a modest trust fund. The income is used to disburse scholarships to help young athletes with the cost of post secondary education. An inaugural scholarship honours stalwart Westside supporter Mike Pettingale and is awarded annually to a soccer player enrolled in a full time university or college program who has made a significant contribution to sport in their community by way of playing, coaching, managing and/or supporting. Find out more about the Mike Pettingale Memorial Scholarship and the Westside Football Club Scholarship Trust.
